Why Robots? | Classification of robots

Basically robots are made for making human work easy, they don't eat food they don't need education they do whatever you want from them.

Robots are more efficient rather than human beings,
- Need electricity to charge themselves,
- Can work day and night,
- Sufficient storage,
- Powerful memory,
- Quality,
- Work accuracy,
- Work efficient.

As there are so much applications of robots :-
  • Industrial robots
  • Medical robots
  • Military robots
  • Social robots
  • Bio robots
  • Robots in household
  • Educational robots
  • Space robots
Advantages of robots :-
  • They don't need comfort zone
-No ac
-No heater

  • They can be sent anywhere
-Water
-Mining
-Space
  • They can work continuously

Disadvantages of robots :-
  • They cannot response in emergency
  • They have limits
  • They are expensive
  • They replace human work
  • They have no feelings

Having so much disadvantages doesn't replaces robots from our daily life, they are more efficient than us,
That's make them irreplaceable.

This is "WHY ROBOTS ?"

Classification of Robots

Robots can be classified into various type :-
According to their control :-

  • Autonomous Robot:- it's a robot which can govern itself or control its own affairs, it can think on its own it can work on its own , we can say its independent.
  • Semi Autonomous Robot :- which can govern itself and can be controlled by other medium too.
  • RC Robot :- Remote controlled robot is robot controlled by us.

Further classified into two types

  • Wired - Remote is connected to bot with wire.
  • Wireless- Remote is transmitter and receiver is plugged into bot.

According to their drive technology :-

  • Electric: Most manipulators use either electric DC servomotor or stepper motors because they are clean and relatively easy to control.
  • Hydraulic: used for high speed and/or high-load-carrying capabilities. A major disadvantage associated with this is the possibility of leaking oils. A hydraulic drive is inherently flexible, due to bulk modulus of oil.
  • Pneumatic: Also used for high speed and/or high-load-carrying capabilities. A pneumatic drive is clean and fast but it is difficult to control because air is a compressible fluid.

According to their movement:-

Movement of bot:-

  • Steering type-
  • Non steering type

Movement of their arm:-

  • Movement of arm is based upon Degree of freedom.

According to their work space geometry :-

  • Cylindrical robot- used for assembly operation, its a robot whose axis form cylindrical coordinate system.
  • Spherical robot- whose axis form a polar coordinate system.
  • SCARA robot- two parallel rotary joint to provide compliance in plane.
  • Articulated robot-arm having at least three rotary joints.
  • Anthropomorphic robot- it's kinda human hand with independent fingers and thumbs.
